MY PERSONAL MISSION.

Welcome to Tools for the Guitarist!

I'm Jo Cassiers, a passionate session and studio guitarist from Belgium.

My journey has taught me so much about the art of guitar playing and the beauty of music itself, and it’s become my heartfelt mission to share that knowledge with guitarists around the world. I would be deeply honored to be a part of your musical journey—whether through one of my video courses, guiding you with one of my guitar books, or meeting you in person at one of the many guitar clinics we have planned. Let's create something truly special together.

take me to the courses.

And teach me everything you know 🎸.

MY GUITAR JOURNEY - THE BEGINNING.

My musical journey began on the shores of the Belgian seaside, where I was inspired by my father’s classic Johnny Cash records. As I grew older and discovered the electrifying sounds of Jimi Hendrix, Steve Lukather, Larry Carlton, and John Scofield in the late ’70s and early ’80s, I knew that the electric guitar was my true calling.

At 17, I took my first steps into the world of music, playing in local bands. One of these bands, formed with my brother Dirk, made it to the semi-finals of HUMO’s Rock Rally—a pivotal moment that launched my career as a session guitarist.

MY GUITAR JOURNEY - CONTINUED.

In 1986, bassist Marc Rosso invited me to play on a record produced by Rosso and jazz trumpeter Bert Joris for artist Gunther Neefs. The album’s success propelled my career, and since then, I’ve been fortunate to contribute to countless live performances and studio sessions.

HIGHLIGHT.

But one of the standout moments of my early career came in the late '90s when my band Orphan, which I co-founded with my brother Dirk, was invited to play at the Royal Academy in Hollywood. This wasn’t just any gig—it was the premiere of Friends & Lovers, a Hollywood film starring Robert Downey Jr., Stephen Baldwin, and Claudia Schiffer, amongst others. Three songs from our album 'September rain' were handpicked by the film's music supervisor, Emilio Kauderer, to feature on the soundtrack. Playing at such a prestigious event and seeing our music reach a global audience was an unforgettable experience and a true career highlight.
